Property at East Seaham
Home Creek Crossing

Some photos of our house building project at East Seaham, New South Wales.

We bought a 10 acre block of land off Italia Road, East Seaham in mid 2000.  It's a 'battle-axe' block with a 400 metre long x 10 metre wide access easement between two adjoining properties in front and to the South of us.  When the access road has been completed it will be a short 600 metre drive from tar sealed Italia Road to the house.  I'm hopeful this job will be completed by the end of 2008, however there is still a lot of work to be done including the construction of an all weather creek crossing (bridge) before this access is useable.  We currently access the block from the rear via a section of fire trail which is great in dry weather but not so good in times of extended periods of rain as it gets cut off by overflowing creeks.  I 'drowned' a 4WD in mid 2007 attempting to get into the property during a storm!  Lots of wide spread flood damage occurred in the Hunter Valley during that June long weekend.   We have an alternate access  which is a 'work in progress'

Aerial shots are photos taken on the 15th April 2007.  The helicopter, a Robinson R22, belongs to Newcastle Helicopters based at the RAAF Base, Williamtown  N.S.W.  I took a 1 hour flight around Port Stephens and Newcastle.

The house faces south and the helicopter approached from the west and circled in a clockwise direction before hovering over the dam in front of the house at about 15 metres before gaining altitude and heading south to Newcastle.  Of course the instructor was at the controls during these manoeuvrers.  The reflections, in some photos, are from the Perspex cockpit door.  I guess I'll have to do it again with the door removed!

Taken from in front of one of the dams looking North towards the house.  Recent rainfall in October / November 2007 have 'greened' the place up.
